Hardback. x,200pp. 8 short stories by Maria de Zayas y Sotomayor, written in the seventeenth century. Translated and edited with an introduction by John Sturrock. The introduction suggests a proto-feminist slant to the stories. Beautiful illustrations by Eric Fraser include a black and white frontispiece and seven further full page illustrations. Quarter bound in red cloth with illustrated papers to the boards. Slipcase has papers to boards and leather to the narrow ends.
