| Notes | Bumpus binding signed in gilt to lower margin inside both rear boards is presumed slightly later than the contents. Maroon labels are perhaps from an earlier binding. Title label to volume II has suffered some loss though the word Marriage is unaffected. The title label is neat and complete to volume I and the author label is complete to both volumes. Previous owner’s label stating A. T. Lloyd to both volumes’ endpapers. there is a tiny nick to the head of the front spine hinge to volume I. Some light foxing to prelims but title pages and text blocks are clean to both volumes. Binding is sound. A very attractive set with unusually bright papers to boards and neat, tight bindings. | ||
