Hardback. 226pp. Biography of Katherine de Roet later Katherine Swynford, Duchess of Lancaster who was first the long time mistress and then third wife of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, the fourth son of King Edward III. Through her Beaufort descendants (her illegitimate children with John of Gaunt, legitimised after their eventual marriage) Katherine is the ancestor to Edward IV, Richard III and all the subsequent kings and queens of England as the twice great grandmother of both Henry VII and his wife Elizabeth of York. Through her eldest son John she is the twice great grandmother of Henry Tudor Later Henry VII and through her granddaughter, Cecily Neville who married Richard duke of York, she is the great grandmother of Edward IV and Richard III and great, great grandmother of the Princes in the Tower and their elder sister Elizabeth of York who married Henry VII and was the mother of Henry VIII.
