Notes Book is very clean, bright and neat. Slipcase has had something placed on it that has made to slightly shiny narrow depressions to the surface, only visible in the right light, it is otherwise very clean and sound.

Hardback. xx, 295pp. Introduction by James Naughtie. Attractively bound with black and white photographic papers wrapped around boards and spine showing Battery Park and the Manhattan skyline in 1954, with printed silver label and black titles to spine. Black slipcase. “Letter from America” was a weekly fifteen-minute radio series that used anecdote and current affairs analysis to explain America to the world, written and presented by Lancashire born Alistair Cooke. It was broadcast initially on the BBC Home Service and then on Radio 4 and around the world on the BBC World Service. It was the longest-running speech radio programme hosted by one individual. the huge span of the programme gives and important over-view of events in the 20th century.
