On the development of the street ballad from traditional song to popular newspaper illustrated with over 60 facsimiles from the author’s extensive collection. There are further black and white illustrations throughout inlcuding headpieces and tailpieces to chapters and prints and woodcuts within the text. Signed and inscribed to the ffep “For Rosemary and Georg [sic] / Some filiegende blätter [filigree leaves] / on an auspicious day / with all good wishes / Leslie Shepard / 12 October 1966.” Indexed.
