Vol II considers a range of late Victorian and modernist writers including Rudyard Kipling, Katherine Mansfield, William Sansom, Elizabeth Bowen, Robert Louis Stevenson, Henry James, Joseph Conrad, James Joyce, Somerset Maugham ,D. H. Lawrence and Walter de la Mere before considering developments since the second world war.
