Notes Just one previous owner's inscription dated 1825. Binding is almost certainly nineteenth century though possibly not original. The spines are sound though with some cracking to the hinges. Leather spines are still attractive but the gilt is faded. There are few loose pages, though none missing, some exposed board at the corners and the edges and the papers to the sides are scuffed. Volume one is the most fragile with serious cracking between the prelims into the spine and with gatherings loose at the tail to middle up to approx page 95. A complete first edition in a slightly fragile state which though still looking good to the spines would benefit from some restoration internally.
