This is the first volume of travel writing by poet Hugo Williams, describing his adventures in Israel, Persia, India, Malaya, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Tahiti and the French West Indies when he was just 21. Williams went onto to have a successful career as a poet and journalist was the recipient of the T. S. Eliot Prize in 1999 and Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 2004. He is the brother of the actor Simon Williams.
