Laurence Housman was the brother of the poet A. E. Housman and was a suffragist and along with his sister Clemence Housman was a founder of the Suffrage Atelier, an artists' collective campaigning for women's suffrage in England. Housman is one of the names and images of 55 women and four men who supported women's suffrage appear on the plinth of the statue of Millicent Fawcett in Parliament Square, London.
